Bio

As an environmental technician for eight years working in the ambient air monitoring industry working for my family's company I saw the strides made to reduce, monitor and politically address air emissions. I did not see the same effort being made for water, water pollution or water pollution monitoring. I then spent a half year teaching English in Vietnam. Went to University and studied entrepreneurship as a major at Dalhousie University, graduated on the dean's list and was awarded the Student Entrepreneur of the Year in 2020. In my third year of University, I was able to study abroad in the Netherlands at the HAN University of Applied Sciences on scholarship. During my studies and throughout my travels I conceptualized Clean Valley CIC and when I returned I gathered a group of experts, Phds, Master students and Marine Biologist in my network to build the foundation of the company. There were four pillars established during this period. I met the CFO of The Ocean Cleanup and was enlightened about how startups that are looking to address massive challenges such as cleaning up microplastics in the ocean are similarly raising capital in the same way as startups in Silicon Valley. While traveling I noticed every city, town and village is next to an Ocean, river or lake showing that we are intrinsically tied to water that we cannot live far from it. Our group utilizes the design principles of biomimicry and finds inspiration from nature to design our solutions. Lastly, we build our products with all stakeholders providing input, this is called a poldermodel, where it doesn't matter if you have Phd or a never graduated highschool if you are affected by our solutions then your input is heard equally.
