What are the fundamental building blocks you need in starting a business? Join our first workshop of the 12-week Start program to find out! Get started in creating your own business model, and learn key business concepts and practical tips like how to register your business.

  • Business registration/incorporation
  • Initial financing of the business

Our guest experts will lead participants through practical and interactive content to help you build your business. At the end of the session, we’ll save time for a Q&A so you can ask questions about any of the content covered or your business specifically.

Natalie Frederick-Wilson, Business Advisor at Centre for Women in Business

An American immigrant of Afro-Caribbean descent, Natalie believes that helping others succeed is the greatest form of service. Natalie’s goal is to propel and inspire entrepreneurs from innovation idea to start-up and beyond by connecting them to the right business advice, tools, and training.

Nico Jones, Associate Lawyer at Stewart McKelvey

Coming from a competitive football background, Nico knows what it is like to work hard and be a part of a team with one common goal. He applies these habits in his approach to his practice and meeting his clients’ objectives. Nico’s expertise includes banking and financing, commercial transactions/agreements, corporate formation/reorganization, and more.

About the START Program

With dedicated time and space to grow their skills and build out their business idea over a 12-week period, START program participants will participate in expert-led, intensive workshops and training sessions. The program will allow entrepreneurs to build the skills and confidence to position their business for success and iterate on their idea alongside other Black entrepreneurs.

This program is for aspiring entrepreneurs or early-stage founders with entrepreneurial ambition and/or potential scalable product or service ideas for a target market.

About the Black Start-Up Project

Tribe Network’s Black Start-Up Project is a unique program to provide Black entrepreneurs and business owners in Atlantic Canada with access to services and opportunities in the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem to help START, BUILD and ACCELERATE their business. The program provides Black entrepreneurs and business owners in Atlantic Canada with access to education and training, access to capital, mentorship & coaching and opportunities in the entrepreneurship & innovation ecosystem. We currently have over 280 Black entrepreneurs registered across Atlantic Canada!
