Hi, my name is Semira Ahmedin I am the founder of Only Original, part of Banyan-Abdu Ethio Exports and Imports. Only Original started our business in 2018 after my Friends contacted me to send them some makeup and skincare products from Canada. My first question to them was why they couldn’t get what they wanted in Addis, the capital city of Ethiopia and where the African Union resides. Things undoubtedly must have improved since I left home in 2013. To my surprise, my friends informed me how difficult it was to get the items they wanted, especially since it is advertised on all social media platforms. When they purchased some products they found in Addis, it was counterfeit. So I was their last resort. I was distraught that they had no access to shopping for these items they saw on their phone, and getting a counterfeit product after investing a lot of money was outrageous. So I shipped a package of Mac makeup and some skincare products to my friends from high school. Soon enough, I realized I could provide service for more people, so I created the Only Original Facebook page. An Instagram account and a telegram channel followed next. Now we want to include a shopping experience for people outside of Ethiopia to shop for unique handmade products directly from the motherland.
